Adaptive Reuse of the Historic Field HomeDescription: The Town of Yorktown has issued this Request for Proposals (“RFP”) for the disposition of interest in real property and adaptive reuse of an historic property known as the “Field Home”. The property to be offered includes an approximately 2.45-acre parcel surrounding a former home for the respectable poor. The building once housed dormitory rooms, offices, public rooms, and a chapel. The Town seeks to offer this historic building and site for adaptive reuse by qualified entities in a manner that preserves the historic character and elements of the building while returning it to productive use. This RFP solicits proposals that will promote the high-quality adaptive reuse of the historic building. The Town of Yorktown’s criteria for redevelopment do not specify a preferred use. Rather, the criteria reflect a conclusion that a range of different use and development concepts could be appropriate if they preserve these historic assets while contributing to the quality and vitality of the surrounding area. Responses are sought from individuals or organizations with relevant experience and qualifications in Historic Preservation and adaptive reuse to redevelop the property in order to make it economically viable and self-sustaining.
