Translational Research Projects (TRP) in Spinal Cord Injury (Round 6) ContractDescription: The SCIRB wishes to stimulate the growth of SCI research and to accelerate the pace with which basic (preclinical) findings are translated into clinical benefits for spinal cord-injured persons. In addition, SCIRB wishes to fill fundamental gaps in knowledge that are barriers to scientific advances in SCI research. This Request for Applications (RFA) offers researchers the opportunity to advance well-proven hypotheses and early translational research findings into mid/late-stage translational and/or pre-clinical research that has a clear and feasible translational path to clinical application. The RFA also offers the opportunity to validate and optimize or iteratively refine devices, tools and technologies to treat or cure SCI paralysis in ways that significantly improve current capabilities. Projects will be supported by State funds. Approximately $8 million will be available under this RFA to support up to two (2) awards. The amount of funds awarded will be contingent upon the quality of applications submitted. The contract term will be up to five years. Annual direct costs are capped at $1,000,000. Additionally, funds will be available to support Facilities and Administrative (F&A) costs up to 20 percent of modified total direct costs. It is expected that the size of each award will vary depending on the stage of development toward clinical application. While not required, applicant and sub-applicant organizations are encouraged to contribute additional cash (in-kind funds) to support the project (see RFA Attachment 1 for further details). Please see RFA for further info. To apply for this opportunity please login to SFS. Search for “Available Opportunities” and look for the grant opportunity name listed above.
